What does "5.1" stand for?
5.1 or surround sound 5.1 describes multi-channel sound systems, where five main channels and a separate low-frequency effect channel are available. For example, a Home Cinema system with 5.1 sound consists of three front speakers (Front Left, Center, Front Right), two rear speakers (Surround Left, Surround Right), and a subwoofer for the bass. The distributed speakers give the viewer a more spatial sound experience.
